Who is Cheap Florida Mom?

My name is Melissa and I live in South Florida’s Palm Beach County.  I am a stay-at-home mom to two beautiful children, ages 4.5 and 6 years old and am married to my high school sweetheart of 22 years.

I consider myself to be savvy and frugal rather than having the Yankee Thrift mentality of scrimping everywhere like my grandparents. I strive to save money where I can, to allow flexibility in other areas of our family budget.

Years ago, I enjoyed going to auctions and finding a good deal on antiques. Two kids later, my shopping priority lists have changed, but my desire to find good deals has not. I do my research and rarely pay full price for anything whether online or locally. This doesn’t mean I barter for everything.  I just scout out when/where to find bargains and plan accordingly.  This includes everything from groceries, drug store purchases, kid items and clothing to Christmas shopping year round. If I see a good deal on something, I grab it. My friends and family often tease me about my obsession with Craig’s List, e-bay, Freecycle and Thrift Stores.

The goal of this website is to provide a centralized location of great deals. I will show you how to effectively utilize coupons to cut your grocery and drug store purchases by 50% or more, offer product reviews on items I feel are both useful and affordable, and outline family-friendly activities and excursions that won’t break the bank.
